Getting the stool together and apart again won t be easy.

Work carefully move slowly and be patient.
Re insert the tenon and tap a wedge of equal width into the slot using a hammer.
This creates the slot for a wedge.
Two sides contains the angled joints while the other two contained the straight ones.
If you see the leading edge of the tenon splitting the top edge of a mortise upward either tap the split area down or trim the tenon.
Make a top down cut which will divide the tenon in two being careful not to exceed the shoulders.
Making the mortise and tenon s in this built there was a mix of straight mortise and tenon s and angled ones too.
Once the joint fits well remove the tenon piece and secure it perpendicular to the workbench.
